SPC Andrew Lahey

SPC Andy Lahey enlisted into the Marine Corps in 2007 as a tuba player with the Marine Forces Pacific (MARFORPAC) Band at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, serving from 2007 to 2011. While with the Marine Band, then Corporal Lahey had the honor of getting to perform in American Samoa, Tonga, Canada, China, Cambodia, and Mongolia, and for numerous national leaders, including Vice President Joe Biden and the Late King George IV of Tonga. In 2021, he re-enlisted into the Texas Army National Guard 36th Infantry Division Band at Camp Mabry, where he currently serves as a Low Brass Specialist on tuba and euphonium, with a secondary on trombone. He has performed in the Arrow Head Brass Band for 3 years on tuba and trombone, and 1 year in the former unit Big Band as lead trombone. SPC Lahey completed Marine Corps basic training at MCRD San Diego in 2007 and the Marine Corps School of Infantry and Armed Forces School of Music in 2008.
SPC Lahey’s awards include the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Global War on Terror Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Unit Citation, Army Service Ribbon, Texas Medal of Merit, and the Texas Adjutant General’s Award.
In civilian life, SPC Lahey works as a band director in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music Education from Texas Christian University. He currently lives in Arlington with his Wife, Bekah, and their three children, Aubrey, and the twins Oliver and Gabriel. In his spare time, he enjoys fly fishing, restoring old boats, and flying airplanes.
