SPC Matthew Johnson

Specialist Matthew Johnson is a trumpet player in the 36th Infantry Division “Lone Star” Band, where he performs with the R&B Band. He joined the band in February of 2025 after enlisting in the Texas Army National Guard in 2024. As a proud member of the Lone Star Band, SPC Johnson serves his state and country through music, bringing energy and excellence to every performance.

Outside of his military service, SPC Johnson is an elementary music teacher in Greenville ISD. A lifelong Texan and committed educator, he earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2023.

A resident of Celeste, Texas, SPC Johnson enjoys disc golf, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his wife, Emily, and their dog, Benji.
