SGT Christopher Washington

Sergeant Christopher Washington began his military service in the United States Marine Corps, completing Basic Training in San Diego and attending Marine Corps Aviation School at NAS Meridian, Mississippi. After his honorable discharge, he continued his dedication to both music and military service by enlisting in the 151st Alabama Army National Guard Band in 2005. There, he contributed to the jazz, wind, and marching bands.

SGT Washington joined the 36th Infantry Division Band in 2010. He completed the Basic Leader Course at Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

SGT Washington holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Master’s in Music History and Literature from Texas State University. He is currently a musicologist and jazz band director at Southwestern University.

Based in Austin, Texas, SGT Washington is a proud parent of three and enjoys cooking, reading, and traveling.
